The YWCA-UFT Extended Day and Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (C.A.P.P.) programs held their First Annual Community Health Fair on Thursday, December 6, 2012, in Brooklyn.
In partnership with Long Island University’s Nursing Intern Program, Nurses were on site to answer health related questions, take blood pressure and weight, and conduct hearing and eye examinations. Attendees also had access to free HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention information, and were presented with healthy food care packages, which included fresh fruits and vegetables. The event also featured a number of fun family activities including yoga, face painting, and performances by The United Steppers, YWCA Pep Squad, and Drumline clubs.
Presenters included the NYPD/FDNY, Health and Wellness, Community Healthcare Network and New York Life Insurance.
