Karlene James is a proud New York native born in St. Mary’s hospital and raised in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn. Karlene took advantage of the various programs offered by the College University of New York (CUNY), where she studied and obtained a degree in mental health and human service. She has worked in the human service field for the past seven years. Karlene enjoys working with the youth and appreciates her position at the YWCA because it allows her to actively help mold the next generation by providing services as well as creative outlets to the youth through various forms of art. Karlene enjoys creative writing, piano, as well as drawing, each of which she uses to connect with the students she works with.
