Danielle Moss Lee ’90 Named to Swarthmore College Board of Managers

Swarthmore, Pa. Danielle Moss Lee ’90 is one of eight new membersto the Swarthmore College Board of Managers that will begin th eir term at the Board’s meeting Sept. 27-28.

Lee is chief executive officer for the YWCA of the City of New York. Prior to her
appointment, she was the president and CEO of the Harlem Educational
Activities Fund, which became a leading youth leadership o
rganization during her

year tenure. She is currently president of Black Agency Executives’ Board of Directors, a member of Columbia University’s Teachers College 125th Anniversary Steering Committee, and a blogger at Edutopia of the George Lucas Educational Foundation.

Prior to joining the Board of Managers in 2013, Lee served a three – year term on the Alumni Council concluding in 2012. She has been an admissions interviewer for six years and a transfer interviewer. In addition to her B.A. in English literature from Swarthmore, Lee holds an M.Ed. in education administration and an Ed.D.in organization and leadership from Columbia University.

The Board of Managers, which currently consists of 39 members, oversees the general management and welfare of Swarthmore College. Most of the board’s work is done in committees and Swarthmore’s president regularly participates in committee meetings. The Board of Managers meets four times a year.

Founded in 1864 outside Philadelphia, Swarthmore is a highly selective liberal arts college whose mission combines academic rigor with social responsibility. With an enrollment of 1,552 students, Swarthmore is distinguished by its unique honors program and Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility
