YWCA of the City of New York is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The Girls Initiatives volunteer is responsible for administrative support for the girls programming. The volunteer will collaborate and work with the Senior Director of Girls Initiatives and Program Coordinator. Key attributes of a successful volunteer is the ability to manage complex and detailed tasks simultaneously; utilize analytical skills; develop relationships with girls that are enrolled in the program; friendly; work collaboratively and independently as necessary with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with event planning for the Girls Initiatives
  • Manage arrival and dismissal of participants
  • Cover reception area
  • Manage general inquiry over the phone and email
  • Manage outreach to a variety of stakeholders
  • Champion YWCA anti-racist and anti-sexist philosophy
  • Fulfill all other duties deemed vital to the function of the organization

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
  • Highly self-motivated and creative
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
  • Strong work ethic and professional values
  • Commitment to promoting YWCA’s mission
