At the 38th Annual Salute Luncheon, the YWCA-NYC introduces the leading ladies of business: the Academy of Women Leaders Class of 2011. We congratulate Deborah M. Buell on this recognition, and look forward to honoring her on October 28!
Deborah M. Buell is a partner based in the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Ms. Buell’s practice is based on the defense of complex civil litigations, with a focus on bankruptcy and securities litigation. Ms. Buell joined Cleary Gottlieb in 1984 after clerking for Judge William C. Conner of the Southern District of New York and became a partner in 1990.
At Cleary Gottlieb, Deborah has served as chair of the Diversity Committee, the Associates Committee and the Recruiting Committee, among other leadership roles at Cleary Gottlieb. Deborah is a member of the Federal Bar Council and the Bar Association of the City of New York, where she is a past chair of the Committee on Women in the Profession. She has also served on the Board of Legal Advisors to Legal Momentum. Deborah is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and of a variety of Federal courts.
Deborah graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown Law Center, where she was Executive Editor of the Georgetown Law Journal, and received an undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
