Our theme for Salute 2020 was Honoring Our Resilient Communities, which showcased presentations by the young women and children who benefit from our enrichment, leadership, afterschool and summer camp programs. Even in the midst of the global pandemic, our students are still finding joy in the YWCA NYC programs. Participant Harmony Lebron a 5th Grader at  P.S. 188 spoke of the YWCA NYC’s drumming program and said, “If I’m stressed about the pandemic, how it is, I can just hit the drums, make my own beat and it’s really nice.”

In addition to hearing from our students, SALUTE 2020 featured illustrious speakers such as Manhattan Borough President Gail Brewster, and Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke, who was interviewed by a YWCA NYC student from P.S. 90. All donations to the YWCA NYC SALUTE 2020 event were 100% tax-exempt, and were directed back into the program that will have an impact on the 1,500 children served by the YWCA NYC.
