Salute Luncheon
The YWCA-NYC Academy of Women Leaders Salute Luncheon is a celebration of the women leaders who inspire greatness from us all. One of the nation’s largest, most visible and important tributes to professional women leaders, the Luncheon is the premiere event for showcasing trailblazing women in business. For almost 40 years, the Salute Luncheon has been a premier event for a broad spectrum of companies, professional service organizations and nonprofits to embrace and celebrate the advancement of women and demonstrate their commitment to diversity.
The 38th Annual Academy of Women Leaders Salute Luncheon was held on October 28, 2011, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, 811 Seventh Avenue at 53rd Street.
The Academy of Women Leaders
The Academy of Women Leaders is a powerful network of over 3,000 distinguished professionals and pioneers, many of whom were the first to break through corporate glass ceilings and rise to senior executives in their companies and industries. Their companies have chosen to recognize them for their leadership, achievement and contributions to their companies, institutions and communities. Anywhere from 40 to 70 honorees are newly inducted into the AWL each year at Salute.
The Spencer Award
The Spencer Award Scholarship is a $5,000 scholarship awarded annually at Salute to a woman currently or previously enrolled in a YWCA-NYC program who has demonstrated a significant level of perseverance and commitment to achieving her education despite economic or other hardships.
The scholarship is intended to help cover costs associated with vocational training or continuing education.
