The YWCA of the City of New York respects the privacy of individuals visiting our website. We are grateful for your support and the crucial role you play in helping us continue our valuable work. As part of our commitment to safeguarding your privacy we have adopted the online privacy policy outlined below.

Collection and use of information

We collect two kinds of information, site usage data, which is not individually identifiable, and individually identifiable information.

Site usage data

Our Web server automatically recognizes and collects information about visitors to our site, such as the number of visitors, what pages they access what browsers they use (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer), capabilities of their browser (e.g., Adobe Flash, JavaScript) and information about the domain name of their Internet service provider (e.g., .com, .net). This information is collected anonymously. It is used in aggregate form in order to manage our Web site and improve its content.

Individually identifiable information

We collect individually identifiable information about you when you choose to share information about yourself — for example, when you make a donation. This information may include your postal or e-mail address, and/or your telephone number. The information we collect in these circumstances is always clearly indicated.
Individually identifiable information is used to provide you with information you request or acknowledgment of your contribution or message. If you provide your postal address, telephone number or e-mail address to the YW online, you may receive periodic contacts from us.

Sharing Information with Others

The information we collect is not sold, rented or shared with any parties outside of the YW, unless under extreme circumstances to comply with the law, enforce our rights, or protect the safety of our users or others.

E-mail Communications

We occasionally send out an e-mail newsletter and direct email communications to YW site visitors to highlight news, information and opportunities available from the YW. You can elect not to receive communications from us by refraining from providing your e-mail address when prompted, or by contacting us.

Links to Other Sites

Our site provides links to other websites. Please note that the YW is not responsible for the information practices of linked sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of each site you visit.

Security

In order to prevent unauthorized access and protect our users’ personal information, we strive to maintain physical, electronic and administrative safeguards to secure the information we collect online. Online contributions are made through PayPal, a  licensee of the TRUSTe Privacy Program that uses industry-standard encryption and protection measures to ensure a secure transaction. For more information, please review PayPal’s Privacy Policy.

Privacy Policy Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes here. We encourage you to review our policy from time to time.
