YWCA of the City of New York is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The Girls Initiatives Program Assistant will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Ignite! Youth Giving Fellowship program in partnership with the New York Women’s Foundation. The Program Assistant will lead in project management and assisting with recruitment for the program. The Program Assistant reports directly to the Senior Director of Girls Initiatives.


• Manage daily operations of programs
• Manage student class enrollment and ongoing engagement
• Coordinate and plan activities and events
• Assist with recruitment efforts for programs
• Manage database entry, track attendance and monitor student engagement
• Develop strong, positive relationships with students to promote personal and academic growth
• Communicate program requirements and logistics to students and their families
• Research, plan and chaperone trips
• Champion YWCA anti-racist and anti-sexist philosophy
• Fulfill all other duties deemed vital to the function of the organization


• Working towards bachelor’s degree in education, gender studies, women’s studies or related field preferred
• Experience working with high and middle school students in an after school setting preferred
• Highly self-motivated and able to utilize analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage complex and detailed tasks simultaneously
• Ability to build meaningful and accountable relationship with girls while maintaining professional boundaries
• Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively
• Ability and willingness to commit to entire program and program philosophy
• Ability and willingness to have fun
• Strong work ethic and professional values
• Commitment to promoting YWCA’s mission

Position is Part-Time.
15 hours per week
