Women's Employment Program

Proceeds from the Theory event on May 8 will be donated to the YW's AWL Leadership Fund in direct support of the Women's Employment Program.

Begun in 1978, the Women's Employment Program for displaced homemakers helps women compete in a sophisticated job market that favors highly skilled workers. Women's Employment provides the opportunity for women to gain skills, knowledge and confidence to enter or re-enter the workforce and thus support themselves and their families.

Established in 1858, the YWCA of the City of New York is one of the nation's oldest non-profit organizations. Our mission is to empower the City's women, girls and their families and to eliminate racism. Our programs provide childcare in Early Learning Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island; new Family Resource Centers that offer programs on parenting, job training, financial literacy, and health and nutrition in the communities where our Early Learning Centers are located; employment training for women; and after-school programs for children, girls and young adults. We serve as a leading advocate for women, girls and diversity.
