Maureen Friar, CEO, YW-NYC

Maureen Friar was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the YWCA of the City of New York (YW-NYC) effective August 1, 2019. For almost 30 years, Maureen has led nonprofit organizations and coalitions that focus on women’s empowerment, homelessness, affordable housing, community development and disability rights. She previously served as Executive Director of the Huairou Commission; a global network of grassroots women’s organizations; Strategic Development Officer at Community Access; President and CEO of the National Housing Conference; and Executive Director of the Supportive Housing Network of New York.

Friar earned her BA from Brown University, a Master of Public Policy from the University of California at Berkeley, and was a Charles E. Revson Fellow on the Future of the City of New York at Columbia University.
