The YW Brings Coney Island Families Together for Family Day
At the Roberta Bright Early Learning Center on June 5th, Coney Island could hear DJ Rico’s music over the sounds of waves crashing. It was a warm summer day at YWCA-NYC’s Fifth Annual Family Day and students, staff members and the community-at-large gathered to enjoy the free food and entertainment that bring families together each year.

Children of all ages and backgrounds enjoyed the plentiful entertainment that was just outside the boardwalk. If children weren’t getting their face painted as their favorite superhero then they were getting their favorite balloon animal made by the jolly clown on stilts, or perhaps petting the baby skunk at the petting zoo. Whatever the case may be, both parents and children enjoyed the carnival-like activities, art gallery and fresh fruit available at Roberta Bright.
Family Day was made possible by the many contributions of YW’s corporate sponsors and volunteers. The YW would especially like to thank Goldman Sachs for the enthusiastic volunteers who helped engage the community, Whole Foods Market for providing the fruit and NY Spring Water for their donation of bottled water and Vblast! vitamin-enhanced water. The Coney Island community as well as the YW appreciate and value your contributions to this hugely successful event.
